Craft project "Rosewood box"

When I was 3rd. year student as Cabinetmaker, I made a jewellery box in Rosewood. The brief was to make a project with marquetry and I also wanted to learn how to make wooden hinges. So I went to Aarhus city and visited a famous box maker called Alfred Klitgaard who had specialized in making boxes with wooden hinges. It was a memorable experience to meet one of the few Danish craftsmen who dedicated their whole life to making boxes. After inserting the hinges I polished the box with schellack.
